She lived a normal life in Raccoon City leading up to the Racoon City Incident where the T-Virus was loose and made a city full of zombies. She had come home to find her brother when she was attacked by these creatures and saved by a rookie cop by the name of Leon S. Kennedy. They were later separated due to a car crash, but the two met up at the police station.
Claire later met a child by the name of Sherry Birkins and she protected the little girl while trying to find a way out of the city. She fought a tyrant that was said to be Sherry's father, William Birkins, and she reunited with Leon once again to escape the city through a train. Having one last blow out with the tyrant before the three escaped the city. Just then a blinding bright light would overtake Claire and she would find herself in a mysterious tower.
