Another Day in Isafaro (Open)

Clark was on his way to the Daily Planet for some reporting when his superhuman hearing caught on to a gunfight between Vulture and Resistance soldiers. While he sided with the Resistance, he couldn't allow a gunfight to hurt innocent civilians so it was time to suit up and stop it. He entered a nearby phone booth and came out as the Man of Steel. In blue, red, and yellow. Superman!

Superman used a mix of his superhuman speed and flight to get to the scene quickly. As he expected both sides were hiding behind cover firing on the other. Superman landed between the bullets and allowed them to bounce off his body as he faced the Crimson Vulture first.

"Stop this now. I will not allow either of you to hurt innocent civilians."

"Fuck off, Superman!" yelled the Vulture.

The Vulture soldiers began to fall in line and fire on Superman. They even tried their null grenades to see if that would work, but he wasn't a demon or some supernatural being. He was an alien from another planet. Why did they not understand that? Oh well. Looked like they had to do things the hard way.

Superman charged right into one soldier with his super speed knocking him out. He then punched another soldier and elbowed another knocking them back into their cover site. One soldier tried to use his chainsaw attachment to carve into Superman, but Superman bent the chainsaw and then threw the rifle away. The soldier was too scared to continue so he ran off. Seeing the Vulture troops have fled Superman turned his attention to the Resistance.

"You can come out. I will not harm you. You chose peace when the Vulture only chose violence. I will not interfere in Resistance matters. Give your leaders my regards, but if your business endangers the lives of others I will be there to stop it."

With that said, Superman took off into the air and flew away from the scene.

[Bane]

Lex was standing on the roof of LexCorp as he watched his nemesis flying about the city's skyline of Isafaro. He held a device that could allow him to speak in a frequency he knew Superman could hear with his hearing. He began to speak through it to get the Man of Steel's attention.

"Superman, if you're paying attention I know you can hear me. Meet me on top of LexCorp's rooftop in five minutes or I'll blow up several buildings that will keep you busy for the next five to six hours."

Lex then put the device down and waited for the Man of Steel to reveal himself.

Superman of course heard the message from Lex and immediately showed up on top of Lex Corp's rooftop hovering over Lex Luthor with his arms crossed in front of the S on his chest. Eyes narrowed over his nemesis Lex Luthor.

"I'm here, Lex. What do you want?"

Superman knew this couldn't be anything good, but he was ready in case Lex had planned a trap for him.

[Bane]

"I have a proposition for you, Superman. I think it's one we can both agree on."

Lex's face was of course unreadable. It was hard to tell when he was lying and when he was telling the truth. Since he mixed the two together so frequently. Which was one of many things that made him dangerous. He would earn your trust and then backstab you when it suited him. He held up a holographic device and showcased a planet that had Kryptonians survivors on it.

"I want you to leave this planet, Superman. You and Supergirl. Remnants of Argo City lives nearby on a planet all their own. If you agree to go then I will retire from CEO at LexCorp and no longer interfere in Isafaro's politics. I'll retreat to a simple place like Moon Valley or Hallowton and live in peace. Our battle no longer has to continue. All I want is peace."

Superman knew this offer was too good to be true. Lex wasn't one to be trusted under any circumstances. Especially when he was making you an offer like this. He had betrayed too many people in the past and Clark knew it wouldn't be that easy to get him to leave Isafaro politics alone.

"How do I know you'll keep your end of the bargain after Supergirl and I have left the planet? How do I know you won't target Argo City and try to have it destroyed once we're both there? You just threatened to blow up a building five minutes ago. You really think I'm going to believe all you want is peace?"

[Bane]

"You wound me, Superman. The lack of trust between us is very hurtful."

Of course Lex's feelings weren't really hurt. It was all a show to reinforce the idea that Lex was the good guy and the aliens like Superman and Supergirl that everybody trusted were the real invaders. The real otherworlders. And of course Lex knew it wouldn't be so easy to convince Superman to leave a planet he had swore to protect with his life.

"Then I guess our chess game will continue."

Lex pressed a button on his wrist and then smiled.

"I just released an army of mechs into the city. There's about thirty of them. You may want to go intercept them before they kill innocents. I hear you're very oppose to the killing of innocents."

If Superman didn't have his morals he would've obliterated Lex with his Heat Ray Vision then and there for releasing giant robots on the population. But that was a line he wouldn't cross. No matter what. He was a hero and a symbol to thousands of people who were under a corrupt government. He couldn't cross that line and let them down. Most of all he couldn't let himself down. He would never cross that line.

"This isn't over."

Superman flew away from Lex and used his hearing to pinpoint the direction the robots were coming from. He intercepted the first and punched it as hard as he could knocking its head clean off and causing it to crash to the ground. He then landed as the other twenty-nine robots were quickly headed towards him. The second robot firing missiles at Superman which he easily dodged and then came back with a wide ray of Heat Rays to melt several of the robots that were coming his way. He had to make sure to hold the line here. No civilians were dying here today on his watch.

[Bane]

Lex pulled up satellite feed to watch the battle between Superman and the mechs he released. Lex was no fool. He made sure to equipped the mechs with the tools they needed to even the playing field with Superman. Much like his suit of armor, the mechs were armed with Kryptonite and Superman didn't have his bio-suit. The mechs that remained all aimed their weapons and released green Kryptonite energy at Superman to severely weaken and of course kill him.

"I believe this puts you in check, Superman."

Superman used his own cape to block the kryptonite energy from the mechs and resisted the pain and agony that came with being this close to exposed kryptonite. He then lowered his cape below his eyes and released a great burst of heat ray vision at the first mech and then charged into the second mech shoving it backwards and pushing it into the other in-coming mechs to cause a pile up.

[Bane]

The robots were being dismantled by Superman. Which came as no surprise to Lex Luthor. He knew the strengths and weaknesses of his opponent after all. Sometimes even raw green kryptonite wasn't enough to keep the Man of Steel down. His plan was to keep him busy so Lex pressed another button on his wrist, and the next five blocks worth of buildings all exploded with people still inside. It was time to see just how fast Superman really was.

Superman's head snapped to the direction of the explosions. Was there no depth Lex Luthor wouldn't sink to to best him? Superman forgot about the robots for now and flew towards the first building that was blown up. It started to collapse and Superman landed at the bottom of the building and held it up with all his strength to give the people time to get out of the building.

The people fled from the building one by one. Once Superman was sure there were no one else left in the building he pushed it back and stepped away. Allowing the empty building to collapse as he looked back at the rooftop that had Lex watching it all from his tech. Superman was disgusted with the man who had so much promise once in his life.

[Bane]

Lex only smirked as he could tell he had earned Superman's disdain from so far away. Shifting Superman's focus to the burning buildings allowed for the mechs to regroup and enter the city. They entered sector six and began killing off civilians and destroying buildings. It wouldn't take long before the Vulture stepped in to take control of the situation. Assuming the Man of Steel couldn't. But Lex knew Superman would not rest until the city was safe, and if Lex had his way Superman would not be able to rest.

Superman saw another building being destroyed and remembered the mechs he left behind. He used his superhuman speed and agility to make it to the scene and then took the fight to the mechs. Punching and kicking them into pieces with all his strength. Even using both his Heat Ray Vision and Ice Breath to burn and freeze them before tearing them apart.

[Bane]

Lex decided he had seen enough. Vulture men would be on the scene soon and Lex knew he had to be far away when they did come. He turned around and went back inside the LexCorp building to get to other kinds of business. Lex knew this wouldn't kill Superman, but for now it put the Man of Steel on notice. Lex was coming for him and he wouldn't rest until the Man of Steel and his goody good cousin were dead.

Superman picked off the rest of the mechs and then saw that the Vulture was closing in on the area. Knowing how they felt about him he knew he couldn't remain there. It seemed Lex has also left the scene for now. With everything settled, Superman took off into the air and flew away from the scene. He knew this wasn't the last he would see of Lex. That was a war which made never end.
