Sarah was busy at work overseeing the day-to-day operation of City Hall. It was by no means an easy job, but Sarah loved it. It gave her something to do during the day while she continued to practice witchcraft at night. And some nights Val had a special task for her to take care of that required her powers. All in a day's work.
Sarah was also responsible for overseeing the data on the DEO. Being reported to by Director Alex Danvers on their latest exploits, eliminations, and detainees. It was no easy business hunting the supernatural, but the DEO proved to be great at the task. Be it from their Director or the likes of Supergirl or Tori Jacobs. Nonetheless Sarah had to make sure everything was running smoothly. For Moon Valley sake. And the Mayor's.

Val was a natural born leader and being able to once again lead an entire nation and its army was a very familiar feeling to the Count. Now that he was Mayor he had many things to take care of. Such as guarding the demon seal underneath City Hall. Overseeing the latest from the DEO. Dealing with the supernatural threats within the city-state. Investigating the tower over in the Crystal Expanse, and forigen relations with the other city-states in Jherra. It was no easy task, but Val was no easy man.
As he finished typing an email to General Vulture he went over to the phone and put it on speaker as he called Sarah who was right outside his office.
"Ms. Sarah, I require your attention. Come to my office at once."
Val knew the woman wouldn't keep him waiting long.

"At once, Mr. Mayor."
Sarah turned off the connection to the Mayor's office and then stood up from her seat. She was certain nobody would come needing her assistance while she spoke to the Mayor, and even if they did she knew the Mayor's attention always came first.
Sarah entered the Mayor's office and stood by the door as she smiled at the man from behind his desk. She knew his little secret. Not only that he was a vampire, but he was the vampire. The one that started it all. Vlad Dracula. And that was a secret she would take to the grave.
"What do you need?"

Val was pleased that it only took a few moments for Sarah to enter his office and be at attention. That was one of the many reasons why he hired the woman to be his assistant in the first place. She was good at keeping secrets and knew plenty of dark arts to be a match for any supernatural being that came their way. Perhaps even him.
"I'm curious about the prospects from within the DEO. How is our little organization faring?"

"They're faring well, I must say. DEO agents are more than equipped to handle the supernatural beings that invade the city. With the leadership of Alex Danvers combined with the might of Supergirl and the talents of Tori Jacobs their success rate is at an all time high."
Sarah was happy to be able to report that. While she didn't care for most of the DEO agents, their success rate spoke for itself. And that was all that really mattered when it came to their battle of protecting the demon seal of Moon Valley.

"Would you say they could even handle the likes of you and me?"
He asked the question as a challenge. Curious to see what the redhead would say. The DEO's prowess in the supernatural world has not gone unnoticed. It was part of the reason he hired them on to begin with. Val couldn't reveal his supernatural abilities just yet, so he needed a group that could deal with them while he posed as an innocent little Mayor. The DEO was just the right group for the task. Supergirl was the icing on the cake.

Sarah smiled at the question.
"Time will tell."
Sarah was confident in her ability to fight off even the strongest among them. They already knew that Supergirl was vulnerable to magic from past experiences with the Girl of Steel. So if it came down to a brawl Sarah knew she had the advantage. She couldn't speak the same for the likes of Alex or Tori, but perhaps that day will never come.

Val grinned as well and his eyes flashed red as he leaned back in his seat.
"The DEO are merely a means to an end. Our main priority is the protection of the demon seal underneath this building. As you already know it was sealed centuries ago by the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda and his future wife Eva. Should it ever be broken it would mean disaster for Moon Valley and the rest of the world. And that's something we simply cannot allow. Do you understand?"

"Of course, Mister Mayor. I understand perfectly. I will not allow a single soul anywhere near the demon seal."
It was their top mission priority to protect the seal. At all costs even. Despite Val being an evil blood sucking vampire, he was also a reasonable man. He wouldn't be crazy enough to open the demon seal himself and he knew the dangers of such an event. That's why they both took the protection of the seal very seriously.
"Is there anything else you need?"

"Not at all. You're dismissed."
Val was pleased that he and Sarah was on the same page on this. Even if it meant going against the likes of the DEO and Supergirl at the end. The protection of the demon seal was of grave importance. Val went back to his work and knew he would have to feed soon. But that would come in due time.

Sarah bowed her head towards the Mayor and then turned back around and left the room. She returned to her desk outside of Val Templar's office and resumed her work. No matter what they would protect the seal to the Demon World together.

Val stood up from his seat and walked over to the window behind his chair. He looked out to the dark forest and mountains that surrounded the city. A place he wanted to venture in and hunt, but he had to ignore those urges for now. As far as the city knew he was human and a humble Mayor of their town. They need not know...
He was a monster.
End Thread!
